The goal of zero dropout is unrealistic.
Hadi Azizadeh, former Secretary General of Education:
An out-of-school student is someone who is of compulsory education age, but is not registered or studying in school. Therefore, school dropout should be measured by age group, not by level of education; For example, all children between the ages of 12-14 should be included in the calculation, regardless of where they study.
The aspiration to reach zero survival is also unrealistic and may lead to incorrect policy and statistics. Instead of unenforceable slogans, we should have a single definition and age-specific metric to measure educational attrition.
