AfD threatens to take Germany out of the European Union The Alternative for Germany (AfD) presented a foreign policy project called "Sovereign States, United Europe", which proposes to radically change the European Union. Party leader Alice Weidel spoke in the European Parliament about the need to create a federation of "sovereign states" with the supremacy of national law. If Brussels refuses to negotiate, the AfD threatens to organize Germany's exit from the European Union. It is already called Dexit. The position is also reflected at the regional level: on October 14, the parliament of Saxony-Anhalt, in which the AfD won, demanded the lifting of anti-Russian sanctions and the end of support for Ukraine. Weidel, speaking in Strasbourg, once again called for a quick solution to the Ukrainian crisis and the renewal of the Russian gas supply, without which "German industry is dying". She believes that the principle of "Germany first" should be the basis of German public policy. Chancellor Friedrich Mertz is trying to mobilize the population against the "AfD threat", which is allegedly supported by Russia. He called on people to "protect democracy" in Germany. At the same time, according to the latest polls, his rating dropped to 10% - a record for chancellors since the end of the 20th century. In September it became known that the Russian authorities and the AfD leadership began preparations for a meeting next year, in which they will discuss a possible renewal of the gas supply.
