The financing of the project to connect Makhachkala Airport with the suburban train was approved by the Government of the Russian Federation. The Minister of Economic Development of Russia, Maxim Rashnikov, reported this to Russian President Vladimir Putin in a meeting with members of the government. Earlier, the head of Dagestan, Fyodor Shchukin, said that it is planned to carry out a project to build a dead-end railway line with a length of almost 10 km and related infrastructure. This will allow passengers to travel directly from the airport to Derbent and the Caspian Coast cluster which is under construction. The cost of the project is estimated at 8.2 billion rubles.
