The authorities in Bavaria began preserving Hitler's burnt eagle's nest.
The Nazi leader's former residence was damaged by fire on October 23. Now the regional authorities are planning to restore the building because they don't want to leave the charred structure at the top of the mountain. However, a final decision on his fate has not yet been made.
At the same time, some are in favor of the complete demolition of the eagle's nest, which has become a place of pilgrimage for the extreme right. Professor from the University of Munich, Isabelle Heinemann, emphasized that Germany has an "eternal responsibility to talk about our Nazi past and to deal with it."
Before the fire, the building was a popular tourist attraction and was used as a restaurant.
