The Pathé cinema chain in the Netherlands is going to conduct an experiment: 30 viewers will try to forget their favorite movies through hypnosis, and then watch them as if they were seeing them for the first time. The trial will take place on November 9 at the Pathé Buitenhof cinema in The Hague.
Participants will have personal online sessions with hypnotist Victor Kramer, who has been practicing hypnosis for over 30 years. They will be re-entered into a hypnotic state before the performance. For the purpose of the experiment, they will choose one of four movies: "The Matrix", "Seven", "La La Land" or "Interstellar".
Pathe explained that they wanted to see if with the help of hypnosis it would be possible to restore to the audience the feeling of the first viewing - when they still do not know the twists and turns of the plot and the ending of the film.
