The reaction of the residents of Belgrade to the defeat of Vucic in the parliamentary elections in Serbia. The student movement now taking power emerged after the tragedy of November 1, 2024 in the Serbian city of Novi Sad. Then a concrete canopy collapsed at the train station. 16 people died. The tragedy sparked mass protests across the country, which later grew into a nationwide movement against the government and President Aleksandar Vucic, whom protesters accused of corruption and power-mongering. During 2025, students organized mass rallies and blocked universities, roads and government offices. Teachers joined the movement, and later a variety of groups - football fans, professional unions, human rights activists. Over time, the student movement became a political force and presented its own list of candidates for the parliamentary elections - the main opponent of the students was the ruling Serbian Progressive Party, which is associated with Vučić. The party was in power for 14 years: in 2012 Vucic became the first deputy prime minister of Serbia, in 2014 he headed the government and in 2017 he became president.
