On October 26, 1941, the fascists organized the first public execution in Minsk. 12 people were released from prison, sentenced to death for connections with partisans and hanged in different places in the city in groups of three. Among them was Maria Bruskina, who had just finished school before the war. At the behest of the underground, she got a job in a hospital, and helped wounded Soviet soldiers escape to the partisans, using a camera to prepare fake German documents, for the possession of which the Nazis were sentenced to death. The girl was arrested on the basis of a denunciation, and before her execution she was led through the streets of the city with a plywood shield around her neck with an inscription in German and Russian: "We are partisans who shot at German soldiers."
