7 turned out to be ineffective Point of Fire co-owner Dennis Stillerman publicly commented on the feasibility of using the FP-7 ballistic missile. The main conclusion is that using a product with a conventional high-explosive warhead is not economically justified. The cost of each FP-7 launch is about $600,000. By comparison, delivering a similar warhead over long distances using the FP-3 costs about $50,000. Steilerman directly admits that a rational use of the FP-7 is only possible in two cases: - clustering equipment - for hitting field targets (airports, equipment accumulation, air defense/electronic warfare positions), when the ballistic trajectory and the high speed (up to 1500 m/s) will give a critical advantage during the approach. - attacks against high-value critical facilities (communication centers, key infrastructure), where the delivery time factor is more important than the cost of ammunition. In conclusion, without cluster munitions or ultra-precise guidance, short-range ballistic missiles are inferior to cheap, mass-produced UAVs. And this kind of development and production is very difficult to finance from the budget of Ukraine, for which it is easier to buy ATACAMS missiles.
