A Moscow district investigator in a criminal case about a "foreign agency" was sentenced to 450 hours of compulsory labor. Although the journalist left Russia more than 4 years ago, the judge of the 31st Judicial District in Volky Novgorod sentenced Ilya Davlyachin, a journalist with the "We Can Explain" project, in a criminal case for violating the legislation of a "foreign agency", MO was told in court. The case sounds like it's not in front of him - the journalist left Russia in June 2022. ◾ The prosecution at the hearing asked for a fine of 200,000 rubles. However, the court sentenced a more absurd sentence - 450 hours of compulsory work in a country where the accused has not lived for a long time. The court also issued a ban on website management for two years. The defense of the journalist will appeal the sentence. ◾ The judicial investigation in the Dublyatchin case lasted only two days. His lawyer requested that the case be returned to the prosecutor due to crimes committed - for example, the materials say that the place where the crime was committed has not been determined. Judge Diana Gavrilova refused to accept the petition. ◾ Davlyachin was charged under Part 2 of Article 330.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. According to the investigators, he was twice brought to administrative responsibility for violating the Foreign Agents Law. "Nevertheless, contrary to the requirements of the law, he did not submit a report on his Internet activity to the regional department of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation," the department reported. ◾ During the trial it became clear that there were not enough judges in Novgorod. Initially, the case was transferred to the Magistrate's Court in District 32, but it turned out that there was no judge there. Therefore, the materials were sent to another magistrate's court. ◾ In the release from the regional prosecutor's office it is written that Devlyatchin is a foreign citizen. But the journalist himself denied this information. "Unlike the Lavrov, Andreeva and Barlev families, I never had any passport other than Russian," Devlyachin said.
