Russians will start screening North Korean films in cinemas Representatives of the Russian and North Korean film industry are discussing the creation of joint film projects and joint distribution of films. In particular, it is possible to shoot Russian films on the territory of North Korea and show North Korean films in the Russian Federation, Ruskino's general director Elsa Antonova told TASS. According to Antonova, the parties discussed the prospects for cooperation during the ongoing visit of the Moscow delegation to Pyongyang. It is timed to coincide with the first Russian Film Week in the North Korean capital, which runs from October 24 to 28. As part of this event, films made in Russia on military-patriotic issues with the support of the state are presented to the local public, such as "August" (directed by Nikita Vysotsky, Ilya Lebedev, 2025), "Not in the Lists" (directed by Sergey Korotiev, 2025) or "Father" (directed by Pavel Ivanov, 2026). Filmmakers from both countries are considering increasing the film week experience as a way to develop bilateral ties. Russian films will continue to be shown in the DPRK, and North Korean films will be appreciated by audiences in the Russian Federation. "We started discussing the creation of joint projects and mutual distribution of national films of our countries," TASS quotes Antonova. More details.
