We continue the restoration of the facades of Pavilion No. 62 "Nature Conservation" at VDNKh. It was built in 1954 and today is a cultural heritage site of federal significance. One of the main accents of the pavilion is its central part. It is made of blocks of tempered glass with special strength. Some of the elements were lost over time, and the restorers were faced with the task of restoring them. This is a very complex work: the inner contours of the blocks consist of 10 types of glass parts, and the outer - of 11. The total number of internal and external elements is almost 25 thousand. In some places they are lost by 40%. Today, such glass blocks and parts are not mass-produced, so lost elements are restored in restoration workshops. Experts have already restored the decorative mosaic with Soviet symbols. Now they are restoring the lost reliefs - they were placed on the facades of the side wings of the pavilion. They will also have to restore the lost decorative vases on the balustrade of the central part of the building, metal doors of the main and rear facades and historic wooden windows. In addition, restorers will return the facades to their historic light cream color.
