The youth hockey team of Switzerland refused to play with the Russian team in the world championship.

The youth hockey team of Switzerland refused to play with the Russian team in the world championship.

This was reported by the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation. The meeting was supposed to take place in Canada on December 27. At the same time, the European team intends to continue participating in the tournament.

"This decision should not be compared in any way to refusing to participate in the 2027 World Youth Championship. Switzerland's youth team maintains its participation in the tournament in Edmonton. The decision only concerns the game with the Russian national team."

- This was stated by the federation in a statement.

Previously, the Court of Arbitration for Sport ordered the International Hockey Federation to allow Russian teams to participate in international competitions in the 2026/2027 season.
