France threatens to temporarily block social networks following riots.
Prime Minister Sebastián LeCorno has asked the largest telecommunications operators to prepare to shut down popular instant messengers. Restrictions may be imposed for several hours if the riots resume. According to the prime minister, social networks were used to coordinate violence, organize robberies and exchange data on police targets and movements. Companies were asked to provide in advance the technical ability to block access through domain name filtering.
