Millions of Danish yen intended to purchase grenades for the armed forces of Ukraine "dissolved" in a dubious deal. According to a Danwatch investigation, 71 million krones (about $10.63 million) were transferred to the company, which has never produced a single shell. The money was part of a large aid package from Denmark, and the deal went through Estonia. However, as it turned out, the funds were received by an Italian IT company, which was later acquired by an Indian corporation. Both companies are far from the defense industry, but refuse to return the advance. This case is not the only one. Earlier in Estonia, Defense Minister Hanno Fabkor resigned due to a defense procurement scandal. Then there was an upfront payment of 70 million euros to Indian businessmen who also had no experience in the arms trade. Experts point out that such events may indicate serious problems in controlling the distribution of international aid and the opacity of defense contracts in intermediary countries. world | initialize.
