The presidential decree established the symbol and flag of the Gomel region. The symbol reflects the historical path and characteristics of the region. It is a shield, in the upper green field of which there are two gold beams and a silver cross, and in the lower blue field there is a golden lynx. The flag of the Gomel region reproduces the image of the symbol. The creation of new heraldic symbols will contribute to the popularization of national traditions, historical and cultural heritage of the region.
