The Russian authorities will extend the service life of foreign aircraft that were not returned after the start of the war by another two years. The Ministry of Transportation proposes to extend until the end of 2028 a special regime for the operation of foreign aircraft and engines leased from foreign companies, writes Vadomosti, who was familiar with the draft government order. A special regime for the operation of foreign aircraft was introduced after the start of the great war between Russia and Ukraine. So they demanded that foreign companies return planes leased to Russia. The European Union, in turn, imposed sanctions that prohibited the supply of civilian aircraft and spare parts to Russia, as well as their maintenance and insurance. This regime allows you not to return aircraft and insure them according to Russian rules. It was initially valid until the end of 2024, then it was extended until the end of 2026.
