Russia imports from Germany five times more prosthetic arms and legs than before the start of the war In the first half of 2026, Germany supplied Russia with prosthetic arms and legs, as well as artificial joints worth 79 million euros. This is almost a third more than a year earlier, according to Eurostat data investigated by Forbes. Prosthetic arms and legs and components for them accounted for 41.2 million euros; Endoprostheses, i.e. hip joints, knees and other artificial joints, were purchased for 37.8 million euros. Compared to 2021 volumes, the supply of prosthetic arms and legs increased 5.4 times, and endoprostheses 6.1 times. The prosthetics market in Russia is growing, but local production capacity is not keeping up with demand, Forbes writes. Market participants point out that the issue of prostheses has become much faster, and their recipients have become much younger.
