Iran: US forces attacked the IRIS Shahid Sayad Shirazi near Keshem at the beginning of the Ramadan War. The ships radar mast caught fire upon impact, and the heat caused the damaged part to collapse on the forward deck. Photos show the vessel was not cut in half; It looks split only because its color blends with the surface of the sea. Unverified reports from the crew say the ship ambushed an American fighter jet, but did not detect it until it was targeted.
