Europe: A wave of street protests over rising living costs, as far-right currents seek to capitalize on dissatisfaction with life pressures and dissatisfaction with government performance have become a serious challenge to political stability across the continent. Right-wing currents try to link the economic demands of the demonstrators with immigration, security and opposition to EU policies. Protests about the cost of living do not necessarily mean support for the extreme right.
