New York Times: Fears of a possible Iranian response are growing, and there are hints of Tehran-related factors within the United States.

The New York Times quoted US officials and Washington's European allies as saying that fears of possible Iranian attacks have increased in recent weeks, especially after the revelation of a suspected plot to attack a British military base where US troops are stationed. According to the newspaper, intelligence information presented to US officials indicates plans attributed to Iran to respond to any possible US attack by carrying out assassinations. One of the officials stated, according to the newspaper, that there are signs of the activity of elements related to Iran within the US territory, and emphasized that the issue is not limited to the presence of Iranian citizens only. On the other hand, two senior Iranian officials, one of them from the Revolutionary Guards, said that the United States killed dozens of Iranian officials and a number of their family members, considering that harming Americans is a legitimate response to these actions.
