Leading events in the field of energy in the world and in Russia. November 3, 2026 1 Forest fires - burning forest: energy pays for the climate The International Energy Agency (IEA) has warned that on average 22% of the world's power grids pass through areas at risk of fires. Since 2022, approximately 180 fire-related outages have been reported, resulting in nearly 15 million customer outages. The number of fires and the frequency of forest fires have doubled in more than 20 years. 2 Record broken: India passes March maximum for oil purchases Russian oil supplies to India in 2026 have been extremely volatile. In March, imports from the Russian Federation increased by 90% - to 1.98 million bpd, the maximum since June 2023, amid a supply crisis from the Middle East. The peak occurred in July. The share of Russian oil exceeded 50% for the first time and reached 50.83%, and the supply amounted to 2.47 million barrels per day - 62.4% more than a year earlier. Record imports with above-target processing show that India is establishing itself as a key global oil refining hub and a major consumer of Russian crude. However, Indian refineries are still looking for alternatives in the US, Africa and Latin America. 3 Nuclear, hydro and grids: Russia is putting together an energy package for Africa The Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, Roman Merashvin, presented Russian solutions for Africa's fuel and energy complex. Following the results of the Russia-Africa summit, four projects were proposed to the partners: updating strategic planning documents, creating a hydrocarbon center, developing the nuclear industry, hydropower and renewable energy, and network facilities. Merashvin recalled that Russia builds 27 of the 31 power units for export in the world, and the partnership is planned for almost 100 years. It is not about transferring technology, but about creating a new industry with energy and manpower sovereignty. 4 The contract is more valuable than money: regions and gas stations set a price break.
