Within nine months, 425 doctors arrived at the hospitals in Komi. The Ministry of Health told how it is trying to solve the manpower problem. The Minister of Health of the Republic of Komi Irina Kondratyeva presented the results of the work to attract medical specialists. During the nine months of 2026, 425 doctors and more than a thousand paramedical staff members were employed in the health institutions of the republic. Of these, 45 experts came from other regions of Russia. For comparison: for the whole of 2025, the Republic managed to attract 421 doctors. Therefore, the current figure has already exceeded last year. The "Zemsky Doctor" and "Zemsky Paramedic" programs continue to operate. By the end of the year, thanks to these support measures, it is planned to attract 47 medical workers. Another innovation is the mentoring system, which began operating in Komi for the first time this year. Young specialists are assigned experienced colleagues who help them feel comfortable in a new workplace. According to Kondratyeva, more than 300 doctors and mid-level medical workers have already joined the program. Moreover, about half of the participants found employment in paramedic and midwifery centers, the rest - in district and city hospitals and clinics. The main task is not only to attract specialists, but also to ensure that they stay to work in the republic. And there is one important nuance here. 425 new doctors is a good indicator, but that doesn't mean Comey's medical system has grown by 425 specialists. For an objective assessment, it is necessary to know how many doctors left, retired or left the area during that period. We will recall that in the spring the Ministry of Health estimated the supply of doctors in the Republic at 93%, and the paramedical staff at 96%. At the same time, the labor shortage continues, especially in cities and certain rural areas. Therefore, the main result of personnel work is not only the number of doctors employed, but also the availability of medical care for residents.
