The new standard for treating major depressive disorder in adults has been published on the website of the Official Journal of Legal Actions. According to the order, the patients are now entitled to examinations by a neurologist, an ophthalmologist, a therapist, a urologist and an obstetrician-gynecologist. The list of mandatory tests also includes tests for hepatitis B and C, HIV and syphilis. In addition to them, the patient will have to undergo a detailed general blood test, a biochemical blood test, a test for lipid metabolism disorders and a general urine test. A number of non-pharmacological treatment methods were added to the standard: electrotherapy, electrical nerve stimulation of the brain, acupuncture with extremely high frequency currents, transcranial magnetic stimulation, plasmapheresis, exposure to hypoxia and intravenous blood irradiation.
