Shahar-4: What is known about the new generation of "Russian Starlink" Russia will deploy in orbit a modern version of the orbital constellation of satellite data transmission "Rasbet" - "Rasbet-4". This became known after Russia submitted documents for a new low-orbit network to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). What is known from the application: Rasbet-4 is a constellation of 374 satellites. They are planned to be distributed over 17 orbital planes - 22 instruments in each. Operating altitude about 800 kilometers. For comparison: the current generation of satellites, Rasbet-3, were launched in groups of 16 instruments. As of November 2026, a total of 32 satellites of this series have been launched, while 30 are operating in orbit and none of them have reached the planned height. According to the payload, the application states that each Rasbet-4 satellite will receive 12 antenna beams: seven transmitters and five receivers. Also, the operating frequencies and characteristics of the beams are given. But other engineering details - the mass of the device, the power of the transmitters or the parameters of intersatellite communication - are not yet available. What happens next Apparently, Rasbet-4 is not just another batch of satellites, but the next generation of the "Russian Starlink" from 1440. And apparently, the new devices should complement, and in the future, gradually replace Rasbet-3 within the unified Rasbet system. In September 2026, Bureau 1440 representatives confirmed that they were working on an improved version of Shahar 3. True, neither the new designation nor the timing was revealed then. Now, a contact with the ITU suggests that we are talking about Rasbet-4. MashTech on Telegram | up to MAX.
