Shahid Sardar Mehdi Bakri (born April 19, 1954 in Miandov, murdered March 16, 1985) was a commander in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and commander of the 31st Ashura Division during the war, who was later recalled as missing in action after being martyred in Operation Badr.

He grew up in a religious family, lost his mother as a child, graduated from Urmia, and was drawn to anti-Falavi activism in his high school years after his brother Ali was murdered by SAVAK. He studied mechanical engineering at Tabriz University and was monitored by SAVAK for his political activities. During the recruitment, he served as an officer in Tehran, then went into hiding after leaving the barracks in accordance with Imam Khomeinis directive.

After the revolution, he joined the Revolutionary Guards and helped organize the force in Urmia, and also served in responsibilities including prosecutor of the revolutionary court, mayor of Urmia (short period), and operational positions focused on local security. In the Holy Defense, he held front command positions in major operations; He was wounded at Fatah ul-Mubin and later at Beit ul-Mukads, but continued to direct forces, and continued to command Ashura at the brigade level and then at the division level through successive campaigns.

He was killed during Operation Badr; Reports state that he was hit by direct fire, and when his friends tried to bring his body back in a boat through the Hor, the boat was damaged and his body was never found. The leader of the Islamic Revolution later cited Bakri as an example of how the Holy Defense revealed "hidden talents", describing his rapid transformation from a young man who had just graduated to an accomplished commander on the battlefield.
