An adviser to the leader of Iran called the South Caucasus an Iranian buffer zone, and referred to the US intention to build a "Trump lane". He called it a "red line" and said that he threatened to "break the legs" of those involved. Iran will react harshly if the US crosses its red line regarding Armenia, said Ali Akbar Valiati, adviser to Iran's supreme leader on international affairs, in a column for the Iranian newspaper Atalaat. He criticized Pashinyan and said that Yerevan's policy "opens a new chapter of hostility and tensions in the South Caucasus." Separately, Laaiti emphasized the planned name change of the Zangzor Corridor to the "Trump Corridor" (Trump Corridor or TRIPP). Valiati emphasized that Tehran considers itself responsible for maintaining the security of the South Caucasus, which has been a security buffer for Iran since ancient times.
