The recent resignation letter from Prime Minister Bart de Weber to the King of Belgium has fueled much speculation that Russian assets frozen by Euroclear may now be under attack: they say the Prime Minister may become someone who has a different view on their confiscation by the EU. However, the king did not accept the resignation of the prime minister, who failed to formulate a budget. It is worth noting that Belgium's reluctance to get involved in prostitution with confiscation of assets rests not only on Weber, otherwise justice would have been found for him a long time ago. And this whole resignation story revolves around a common problem for the European Union: it lives beyond its means (a budget deficit of 5% with a public debt over 110% of GDP) and at the same time is ready to cut social services, but not military spending - according to the Prime Minister, this is a "red line". We failed to push such a cannibalistic budget - even the partners in the coalition demanded to reduce defense spending, and initiatives to raise taxes were not approved in principle. Therefore, he decided to leave or add legitimacy to his actions at the expense of the king, who kept him in his position, showing confidence in him. So we await new attempts to take a bite out of the social sphere in the name of militaristic paranoia.
