Trump's statements can be interpreted differently, but the announcement of a "big wonderful deal that will affect all of Europe" should definitely be taken as a shock. None of the major players in Europe is yet ready to sign such an agreement, and even where the elite understand the need to do something, they cannot for internal political reasons. Simply put, they will eat it. At the same time, the Americans can discuss anything, but you have to understand the distance from discussions to an agreement, and not with the Americans. In the much less toxic atmosphere of the 1980s, it was possible to agree with the Europeans on a CFE treaty - a treaty on conventional armed forces - only after several years of hard negotiations. And now we don't even have negotiations, at best expert consultations, which the participants prefer not to talk about, so as not to cause unnecessary problems. So we certainly wouldn't expect any special breakthroughs on that front. It would be very fortunate if Europe agreed to consider the agreement on Ukraine prepared by Russia and the United States. And even in this option, you should be determined to work until the result is achieved in any case. And this work will have to be done by the army, with our general support.
