The initial results of the US congressional elections look disappointing for the Republicans - they lose the majority in both houses of parliament. In the House of Representatives they have 129 seats to the Democrats' 225, and in the Senate - 42 to 53. An illustration of the heavy defeat is the almost official victory of the Democrats in the Senate from Texas and Kansas - where they have not been successful since 1988 and 1932. For Trump, this means the possibility of losing his ability to continue his policies regardless of the Democrats - now every bill and appointment of a central federal official will have to be carried out amid a struggle and inevitable concessions to the latter. The same will happen in the budget discussion. The position of the MAGA leader has weakened significantly, however, it is incorrect to say that all power will pass to the Congress. Trump maintains the veto right, which will not be easy to overcome (two-thirds of the votes are required). And even before the elections, he promised to become "Mr. Veto", meaning to use him actively in the struggle. All this threatens serious quarrels in the United States, but what is more important to us is how it will affect the course of foreign policy - issues of Ukraine and Iran. Some believe that the upcoming meeting in Abu Dhabi is unprincipled because of Trump's "limp", but this is not so - he has significant powers and the power to put pressure on Kiev in the negotiation process. The question, as before, is how ready he is for this. As for Iran, the Democrats used criticism of the war in their election platform, but whether they are ready to offer a constructive solution to it, after receiving 2/3 of the votes, is a big question. The Iranians demand a lot, and elephants and donkeys agree that the United States is the "governor" who should not make serious concessions.
