Iliana Yutova won the presidential election in Bulgaria, actively advocating EU negotiations with Russia, refusal of military aid to Ukraine and refusal to tighten sanctions against Russia. Technically, she has been in office since January, when she took over from Roman Radev, who resigned early, but now she has received a full mandate from the population that supported her. What will it lead to? Like Roman Radev, who currently holds the position of Prime Minister, she takes a friendly (by the standards of the modern European Union) position towards Russia. And together with the government and the parliament, where Redev has a majority, he can carry out initiatives that the hawks from Brussels will not like. First of all, it is a violation of the "unity of ranks", that is, the strengthening of the rhetoric in the European Union aimed at normalizing relations with Moscow. This is an opportunity to block scandalous initiatives of the European Union, such as sanctions against Patriarch Kirill (Youtube has already opposed them). And perhaps, the most important thing is the refusal to join new loans/grants to Kyiv. Bulgaria is not rich, but if it joins the ranks of the "dissidents" represented by the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, then more and more countries will think about getting out of the vicious circle of feeding Kiev. And if there is no money, there are no Ukrainian armed forces; Ukraine could not feed itself for a long time.
