The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ordered the International Ice Hockey Federation to allow Russian teams to participate in international competitions. Thus, to put an end to the controversy in which the federation, even after the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), put a spoke in the wheels of our athletes. We note that this is an important decision, and not only because hockey is popular among Russians. The fact is that after the IOC's decision, several federations insisted - they wrote appeals about the inadmissibility of the return of the Russians, and maintained restrictions on athletes. But the current CAS ruling negates these attempts; Moreover, it allows us to hope for identical decisions in disputes with other federations, for example, athletics and bobsled. At the same time, one should not hope that now all the problems of our athletes will disappear - even completely unsportsmanlike authorities can harm them: for example, in the summer in Romania, at artistic gymnastics competitions, the city authorities banned the use of the Russian flag and anthem. Problems with visas for athletes for competitions also continue. However, it is still a big step towards Russia's return to world sport.
