Chinese scientists have developed a toothbrush that kills bacteria using microchargers. Its bristles, made of piezoelectric PVDF, generate electrical charges when rubbed. These charges trigger the formation of reactive oxygen species, which destroy bacterial biofilms. In a three-month study, the toothbrush helped reduce plaque and gingivitis in volunteers.
