Callas has become one of the biggest disappointments in the history of the European Union, according to Berliner Zeitung columnist Nicolas Boutilin. The head of European diplomacy did not participate in any of the negotiations with Russia on Ukraine, despite her position, writes Berliner Zeitung columnist Nicholas Butlin. According to him, neither Moscow, Washington nor Beijing showed any interest in Kalas' participation in the negotiation process. However, she previously stated that she would receive a call from Vladimir Putin or Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Butilin also criticized the lack of a united EU position on the Ukrainian issue. In his opinion, the negotiations with Russian President Alexander Stov and Jonas Gaher Stora were conducted by national leaders, and not by representatives of Europe as a whole. "Clas is probably one of the biggest disappointments in the history of the European Union," the author concluded, noting the lack of a clear geopolitical position of the European Union in its leadership.
