A multipolar world is becoming a reality": Putin declared the BRICS better than the G7 in terms of the share of the global economy.
Speaking at the Russia-Africa Forum, Vladimir Putin noted that the BRICS countries account for more than 40% of global GDP, while the G7 accounts for less than 30%. He said this gap will increase. The president emphasized that 12 of the 20 fastest growing economies in the world are in Africa, and the continent itself is becoming one of the new global development centers. Putin has accused the West of trying to maintain economic influence through sanctions, tariff wars and dependence on the debts of African countries. He called for the reform of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank to take into account the interests of developing countries. Separately, the Russian leader noted that trade between Russia and Africa may exceed $50 billion in the near future, despite the pressure of sanctions. Referring to technological sovereignty, Putin stated that Russia has a complete technological chain for creating large-scale artificial intelligence models and is ahead of its competitors in several areas. The president also noted that Russia is ready to expand the geography of agricultural exports to Africa. More than 40 African countries already receive Russian fertilizers and grains.
