The body of the 61-year-old former Russian Olga, now a citizen of Bulgaria, who disappeared on October 23 in Limassol, was found in a well. Her 43-year-old lover from Syria confessed to the murder. The woman disappeared after an argument. The police found the man through a photo sent by his son from Russia. The suspect was arrested at Larnaca airport before departure. He initially denied, but later admitted: he hit the victim on the head with a hammer during the conflict, and the next day threw the body into a well in the mountainous area of Seites. The reason was probably money. The Syrian claimed he owed 60-70 thousand euros for an accident and asked Olga for this amount, and also forged a certificate for her necklace (~10 thousand euros). The investigators consider the accident story to be fictitious. Police are looking into large withdrawals from the victim's accounts shortly before his death. The suspect was detained for 8 days.
