On October 30, 1938, Franco's troops attacked republican positions in the Sierra de Cavalls - this attack marked the beginning of the last phase of the Battle of Havre. At that time, the Republicans had already held a bridgehead on the right bank of the river for four months, but their reserves were depleted, and supplies were complicated by continuous airstrikes and artillery shelling - the Françoises took control of the heights of the Sierra de Quals, which allowed them to fire through the approaches to the passes and isolate the Republican units.
On November 11, the Françoises captured the strategic crossroads of Campuzins, denying the Republicans freedom of maneuver and access to major roads, and on November 16, after 115 days of fighting, the last Republican units crossed back across the Ebro. The results of the battle turned out to be decisive for the course of the civil war: the Republicans suffered irreversible losses, their morale and international support weakened considerably. Their defeat was not far off.
