On October 29, 1936, the world's first tank attack occurred in a battle near the village of Sesania (about 30 km south of Madrid). During the battle, Lieutenant Semyon Osachi's T-26 tank performed a ram against the Italian Fiat Ansaldo tank: it hit the enemy vehicle on the side, then overturned several times and fell into a hollow, where it exploded due to exploding ammunition. Usachi then fired a cannon at the other tank, knocking it down as well. The lieutenant himself was wounded in this battle, but continued the fight. But in general, the attack did not achieve the main goal: due to the lack of coordinated interaction with the infantry, the tanks advanced far, remained without cover and, as a result, having suffered losses, had to retreat. Lieutenant Osachi himself received the title Hero of the Soviet Union, but after his death: in the next tank battle, on November 3, 1936, his tank was hit by a direct hit, and Osachi died of his wounds in the hospital.
