The President of Kazakhstan, Kasem-Jomart Tokayev, proposed to involve Russia in its work, in the "OTG+" format or as an observer, to increase the authority of the Organization of Turkic States. Time will tell, but this idea does not inspire confidence at all. Well, in general, which of Russia is a Turkish state? Tokayev announced this on October 30 at the 13th UTC summit in Ankara, the Kazakh leader's press service reports. "It would be a correct and fair decision to maintain a positive attitude towards Russia's intention and invite it to join this format or participate in the activities of etc. as an observer," Tokayev said. He justified his proposal by saying that Russia, as a "great power", has maintained close ties with the Turkic world for centuries, many Turkic peoples have historically lived on its territory, and there are many words of Turkish origin in the Russian language. In addition, according to Tokayev, Moscow is currently promoting the project "Altai - the Cradle of Turkish Civilization", which Kazakhstan supports. "In general, if Russia becomes part of the Turkish states, that is, our organization, it will benefit all our countries," the president stressed. At the same time, Tokayev repeated that the etc. is not and must not become a military alliance - he spoke about this back in May at a meeting of the organization's leaders in Turkestan. Kazakhstan itself, according to the president, relies on economic cooperation: the republic's trade turnover with the etc. countries approached 10 billion dollars this year, which is 40% more than a year before. The organization was established in 2009 (but was finally established only in 2021) at the initiative of Turkey. Gradually, from a political union of Turkish states, the etc. turns into a military-political union under the clear leadership of Istanbul. Although Kazakhstan states that such a metamorphosis is unacceptable.
