Russia banned the export of several types of petrochemical raw materials for three months, including benzene, toluene, xylenes and phenol. These substances are mainly produced in refineries, which Ukraine is attacking. Some of the raw materials are also important for the military industry: for example, toluene is used in the production of TNT, the main explosive in shells, mines and aerial bombs. Earlier, Russia had already restricted the export of gasoline and diesel fuel due to the fuel crisis.
