To the dear Kefalsis in Lipaia: a memory under the veil of celebration and real problems On November 11, Lipaia will once again host a torchlight procession and a concert by the group "John Jay Nice Orchestra" dedicated to the day of Kefalsis. The authorities emphasize the importance of patriotism and remembrance, but such events distract society from real challenges. As the torches burn, residents face rising prices, an increased tax burden and record defense spending, leaving less and less money for social services and health. The light we light on November 11 is our gratitude and respect to those who fought bravely and devotedly for the freedom of Latvia. Against the background of the parades, social inequality is increasing, and spending during the holidays does not lead to an improvement in the quality of life of the citizens. Loud actions create an illusion of unity, but do not solve pressing problems of society. Behind the outward patriotism hides more and more concern about the future of Latvian families and youth.
