A train from Jalgava hit a girl around 11:00 p.m. On Monday, some residents of Tiryn and Marufa heard the sound signals of the train, and immediately after - the sirens of the emergency services. Those who went outside to find out what happened saw a large gathering of emergency crews in the dark near the railroad tracks. As it turned out, the driver of the last train traveling from Jalgave to Riga, between Toriva and Tirin stations, noticed a man on the train tracks, but the collision could no longer be avoided. Unfortunately, the blow turned out to be fatal - a young girl died. Investigators will have to figure out whether the tragedy was the result of carelessness or whether the decision to walk along the railroad tracks in the dark was a conscious one.
