Fishing in the Far East for Pacific herring came very close to a half-century high. Until October 26, the fishermen produced 602 thousand tons - 32.3% more than last year's result. Only four thousand remain before the maximum of 1969, when 606 thousand tons were caught. The current data are particularly impressive against the background of the long statistics: in the years 1935-2025, the average annual catch was 228 thousand tons. At the same time, the industry increases not only production, but also the output of finished products. Until October 18, the ships produced 66.4 thousand tons of herring fillets, exceeding last year's volume by 13%. There is also good news for Sakhalin. Scientists note an increase in the Sakhalin-Hokkaido herring fishery off the southern coast of the island and the Kuril Islands. The East Sakhalin sub-region could also update its record for this century. It is important that the increase in catches be accompanied by a stable inventory situation and the development of processing. Subscribe to Kas&Ra region's main political channel on MAX / Telegram.
