The governor of the Sakhalin region, Valery Limerenko, worked today in the Yuzhno-Kurylsky region. Bashkoten inspected social facilities, gardening, the launch of a power plant and the restoration of a ship repair yard. In Melokorilski, the head of the region inspected the Aflina sports school. The building, built in 2016, suffers from moisture and winds: the roof leaks, the facade is damaged. Instead of temporary repairs, it was decided to completely replace the roof. The project is ready, funds are planned to be allocated from the regional budget. Valery Limerenko checked the progress of the construction of the square and "Memorial Alley". Over 500 square meters of tiles were laid in the recreation area, lighting, benches and cameras were installed. The first of seven memorial toilets appeared. Valery Limerenko ordered to speed up the work: complete the monument, publish information about the defenders and landscape plants in the area. The next object of the governor's attention was the region's most important infrastructure project - the first gas-diesel power plant in the Kuril Islands. The facilities are currently being ordered. The facility should provide a stable energy supply to the population and factories in the near future. Also, the government team led by the governor visited a fish processing plant in Ostrobothnia. Here, after the fire in October, the production and the works were kept. The equipment was moved to other premises and in the place where the burned workshop stood, the foundation of a new building is being prepared. The restoration of the project will make it possible to repair the fleet directly on the islands, without sending ships to the mainland or abroad. The trip ended with a meeting with residents of the Malokrilski Culture House. The islanders asked many questions, mainly about the availability of medical care, transport links with the mainland and nearby islands, as well as the state of housing and community services. Problems that directly affect the quality of daily life were discussed. All requests have been registered and forwarded for further processing. The residents will receive answers to the questions raised, and the implementation of the necessary decisions will remain under the control of the regional authorities.
