Bishkek's general plan has been rewritten - the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan has replaced the master plan of the city's general plan until 2050. It details where there will be residential areas, where there will be industrial areas, at what height we can build and what will appear next to our houses tomorrow. The questions are no longer even about how they did it (without public discussion), but about the fact that they didn't even publish a document with specific changes. At the same time, it seems that the authorities are working. The general plan was approved in April 2026. The concept was developed by a Japanese company, then it was involved in the work of the Design Research Institute from St. Petersburg, and now it is being quietly rebuilt. Then they wonder why private sector residents find their land is now zoned for high-rise development. At the same time, while the general plan changes without discussion and without publication, the municipality continues to live with the same traffic jams and the same smog.
