Treatment according to world standards in Russia is available free of charge - as part of a compulsory medical insurance policy, stated the head of the Federal Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund Ilya Blanin, in a speech at the "National Medicine" Congress.
The mandatory medical insurance program mainly includes weight loss surgery for obesity, photodynamic therapy for bladder and esophageal cancer, CAR-T immunotherapy for certain types of blood cancer, and kidney and pancreas cell transplantation, which eliminates insulin dependence in diabetes. New approaches are emerging: targeted therapy (drugs that "hit" exactly the diseased cells), TIL therapy (strengthens the patient's immune cells in the fight against the tumor) and the first Russian vaccine against colon cancer - Oncorna.
Centers for healthy longevity are opening, and chronic patients are being monitored remotely. By 2027, the mandatory medical insurance fund will allocate 4.4 trillion rubles to the regions - 77.9% more than five years ago. Remote and sparsely populated areas receive additional support: mobile medical and paramedic positions are developed there.
