Elon Musk has become the party's largest single donor in the United States. He poured $446 million into financing the Republican Party ahead of this year's midterm elections, mostly to help it retain control of Congress, according to campaign finance records reviewed by The Washington Post. In total, America's top political donors contributed more than $2.7 billion to influence the outcome of the midterm elections. Musk is one of four private donors who have contributed more than 100 million. Following him on the list are the entrepreneurs Richard and Elizabeth Ohlein, who sent 150 million to the Republicans, and Jeff and Janine Yass, who spent 110 million, also on the Republican Party. The only one of the four who supported the Democrats was investor George Soros. He invested 102 million in the Democratic Party. By the way, what a great story the fight between the Republicans and the Democrats is like a confrontation between a young tech oligarch and a plain old leftist. This is a very beautiful story about the future and the past.
