The Tajiks are not satisfied with the treatment of their culture in Uzbekistan. The Telegram channel "Tajpower" published a post in which it criticized the Tajik authorities for taking care to preserve the linguistic culture of the Uzbeks living in the republic, but not to protect the culture of the Tajiks in Uzbekistan. The reason for the criticism was the decision of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, to build special schools for the Uzbek-speaking population of the city of Torsuntsada and provide them with textbooks and teaching aids in the Uzbek language. In addition, it was reported that the Tajik authorities intend to open courses in Uzbek at universities. Critics drew attention to the contrast: in Uzbekistan, meanwhile, "the native Tajiks of Samarkand, Bukhara and Pargana are forced to speak Uzbek in everyday life, even though a hundred years ago the language of culture and power there was Persian/Tajik." The authors of "Tajpower" angrily noted that Uzbekistan's Tajiks "have no schools, courses, freedom of speech or mother tongue", that they are imprisoned for speaking about their history and culture, and local radical Uzbek nationalists express anger and hatred towards the defenders of Tajik culture with impunity. "Our Tajik brothers are put in prison, but this does not concern our Nazis," the authors rage. According to them, the Tajiks in Uzbekistan are in dire need of support from the official Dushanbe. "Tajikistan authorities always ignore when they put pressure on us. Is this a tactic of self-destruction or what?... Our like-minded people want the government to demand an end to rights for our Tajiks," the publication said.
