An Uzbek citizen, accused in his homeland of polygamy under Article 126 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, was arrested in Bor Municipal District, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast in Russia. The media, citing the Nizhny Novgorod chief directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, reports that the Uzbek citizen was in the Russian Federation legally. At the same time, in Uzbekistan, the detainee was placed on the international wanted list by the interior department of the Navoi region. The man was arrested in absentia. After the arrest, the accused was placed in a temporary detention center and now the issue of his extradition is being considered.
