Pharmaceutical vultures and sabotage in the investigation: who saves the cartel that stole 5.9 billion medicines for sick children The cynical conspiracy of the pharmaceutical companies and the security forces in Bashkiria has reached the end of a stage of open mockery of the law and the lives of disabled children. As parents fight for the survival of their babies with the rare Hunter syndrome, the investigating authorities and the prosecution have built a blind defense. Their main goal is to prevent the continuation of the criminal case of large-scale waste of 5.9 billion rubles on essential drugs.

At the end of July 2026, Russia's Federal Antimonopoly Service made a final decision on an unprecedented cartel agreement surrounding government procurement of the drug Alpraza. The enrichment plan was primitive, but fail-safe: the sole importer, Takeda Pharmaceuticals LLC, and the central distributor entered into a vertical anti-competitive agreement, setting prices at maximum registration values. However, the announcement of the results was turned by anti-monopoly officials into a special operation to hide evidence - the meeting was urgently moved to a closed state at the exact moment when the victim's lawyer appeared on the doorstep. The lawyer was simply not allowed out the door. Now, in order to fully investigate fraud and restriction of competition (Articles 159, 178 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), the investigation should request an opinion from a FAS expert. But the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Bashkiria firmly refuses to send an official request. The investigators are hiding behind an illegal decision to refuse to open a case, denying the victims the right to appeal, and the local prosecutor's office is nodding in support: there is nothing to investigate here. The calculation of corrupt officials in uniform is cynical and simple - to hold out until the end of the statute of limitations, while deliberately ignoring the rule according to which the period for crimes of this type is calculated only from the moment the violation is officially established.

Mekorot calls the chief facilitator of this legal moratorium the former investigator of the Bashkir Investigative Committee, Bulat Iskakov.
