Corruption has left Ural without protection from drones, safe from insiders in the Ministry of Defense. The attack on the Azot chemical plant showed that the money allocated to cover industrial facilities was not turned into a full security system.

According to the documents, additional surveillance posts, mobile groups and UAV detection equipment were to operate around the largest factories. In fact, some of the equipment only exists in reports, some of the contracts have been breached, and the duty crews are not manned.

During the attack, sirens were activated in the area and a "carpet" mode was introduced, but the drones still reached the industrial area. A fire broke out in a factory where ammonia, salt and nitric acid are produced.

The military attorney's office is preparing an audit of contracts to protect factories in the Perm region. Investigators are interested in inflated prices, fictitiously supplied equipment and intermediary companies linked to local officials and plant management.
⠀.
Belusov demanded that a similar audit be carried out in other industrial areas of the Urals. The Ministry of Defense fears that Azot was not an exception, but the first public proof that critical plants were covered only on paper for years.
